Since joining Sitrick in 2006, Mr. Becker has led or co-led assignments including Chapter 11 restructurings, patent litigation, proxy fights, mergers and acquisitions, out-of-court restructurings, labor issues, reputation management, product recalls, executive change, and civil and criminal investigations. His industry experience includes energy, technology, media, healthcare, finance, retail, manufacturing, hospitality, sports, publishing, marketing, insurance, automotive, and others.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Becker spent more than 10 years as an award-winning journalist. He most recently served as the lead national reporter for Bloomberg News specializing in corporate bankruptcy and restructuring issues, and white-collar crime. While at Bloomberg, Mr. Becker covered a number of high-profile Chapter 11 filings, including Delphi, WorldCom, Mirant, Delta Air Lines, Adelphia Communications, Refco, and Enron. He has also reported extensively on white-collar crime and shareholder litigation.
Previously, Mr. Becker was Dow Jones’s lead reporter on bankruptcy and the telecommunications-equipment and information-storage sectors. His coverage was often picked up by papers across the globe, including The Wall Street Journal. Early in his career he was a reporter with the Los Angeles Times, where he covered breaking news, education, government, crime, and feature stories.
Mr. Becker holds a M.S. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. in Journalism from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
