Richard Wilner

Richard Wilner joined Sitrick and Company after more than 35 years as a financial journalist, including 22 years at the New York Post where he was the Business Editor of an award-winning business section. As Business Editor for more than eight years, Wilner led a team that broke numerous stories in the media, retail, M&A and finance sectors and was recognized by the Associated Press for its business reporting. A series of reports on consolidation in the media world, the mortgage meltdown and the travails of the hedge fund industry drew particular attention. At the Post, he also served as the Assignment Editor on the metro news desk and helped coordinate news coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Wilner also created one of the first sports business columns in any large circulation newspaper in the country and chronicled the construction and financing of multiple sports stadiums and covered the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

Before the Post, Mr. Wilner was an investigative reporter for Women’s Wear Daily and filed exclusive reports on corruption in military apparel contracting and on the bankruptcies of several national department store chains.

At Sitrick, Wilner pulls from his varied journalistic experience to provide strategic counsel to clients dealing with a variety of high-stakes matters that typically get the attention of the media.

A native of New York City, Wilner holds a B.A. in Political Science from Wagner College.
